Christmas Appeal Thanks
This year The Salvation Army in Boston has once again been able to provide food and toy parcels and a Christmas Day dinner to those who need them. While it is sad that we cannot prevent poverty or loneliness in our town, we are truly grateful that we are able to do something towards making this time of year slightly easier for people through our work.
We have been very blessed by the number of willing volunteers who have given their time to help us sort the hundreds of parcels and prepare and serve the meals. Many hands make light work, and it has been a joy to have you all with us over these last few weeks. The generosity of people in our community has also been overwhelming; we couldn’t do any of this without the help of the general public who have given willingly to our Christmas appeal when we’ve been out carolling and collecting in Boston and Spalding, in the Boston Town Carol Service offering, and by giving monetary donations directly to us. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped in any way, we trust your Christmas has been truly blessed in return.
Our work doesn’t stop here. The Salvation Army in Boston continues to help those in need all through the year. Two examples of this are our weekly lunch club and the daily drop-in centre (The Bridge), and we are always looking for people who can offer their time as well as donations of money and goods. If you would like to help us in the New Year or any time in 2016 please contact us and we would be delighted to chat about what is needed. Don’t wait for next Christmas, there are people who need us right now.
